Objectives

The Daayitwa Growth Entrepreneurship and Employment Program (GEEP) empowers rural women and youth to become drivers of inclusive economic growth in Nepal.
By strengthening entrepreneurial capabilities and the enabling ecosystem, GEEP enhances enterprise productivity, aims to create employment, and increases household income of entrepreneurs across rural Nepal.

Implemented in partnership with provincial and local governments and the Nepali diaspora, GEEP seeks to:

  • Enable women and youth entrepreneurs to grow sustainable rural enterprises.
  • Build government capacity to design and implement enterprise-supportive policies.
  • Foster collaboration among government, private sector, and civic stakeholders to strengthen the rural enterprise ecosystem.

Currently active in 10 municipalities across Gandaki and Koshi Provinces, GEEP builds on over a decade of Daayitwa’s experience in governance and enterprise innovation gained through the Daayitwa Nepal Public Policy Fellowship/DNPSF and the the Rural Enterprise Acceleration Program (REAP).

Approach

GEEP works on catalyzing rural economic growth by nurturing entrepreneurs and enabling systemic collaboration. Building on the Rural Enterprise Acceleration Program (REAP) launched in 2013, GEEP identifies promising women and youth entrepreneurs, enhances their capabilities, and connects them with critical growth enablers catered as per the personal need of the enterprises.

Key features of our approach:

  • Entrepreneur Identification & Capacity Building: Local selection of growth-oriented women and youth entrepreneurs followed by customized business, financial, and leadership training.
  • Ecosystem Strengthening: Partnering with municipalities to institutionalize entrepreneurship support through technical and financial collaboration.
  • Access Facilitation: Linking entrepreneurs to markets, technology, finance, and mentorship opportunities to fuel growth and ensure sustainability.
