Focus Area

In addressing the need for evidence-based policy-making and inclusive governance, the fellowship program will provide the fellows with a rare opportunity for active engagement with municipal leadership, civil society organizations (CSOs), media, and local youth in addition to leadership coaching, public administration training, social research training, applied policy experience, research mentorship. 

The Public Administration Fellowship will select 15 young professionals from diversed backgrounds (with special focus on youth, women, and marginalized communities) from 11 municipalities in 5 Provinces: Bagmati Province (5 municipalities), Lumbini Province (2 municipalities), Sudurpashchim Province (2 municipalities), Gandaki Province (1 municipality), and Karnali Province (1 municipality).

11 Municipalities are:

1. Amargadhi Municipality, Dadeldhura
2. Bheriganga Municipality, Surkhet
3. Budhanilkantha Municipality, Kathmandu
4. Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur
5. Gauriganga Municipality, Kailali
6. Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan, Dang
7. Gorkha Municipality, Gorkha
8. Isma gaunpalika, Gulmi
9. Nilkantha Municipality, Dhading
10. Panauti Municipality, Kavre
11. Tamakoshi gaunpalika, Dolakha

Daayitwa will also work closely with FHI360’s partners IRDS, RWDC, SOCH Nepal, HURADEC, IHRICON, Samudayik Sarathi, DEC Nepal, FMDC, Sanjeevani Nepal, and Sundar Nepal Sanstha. The project aims to foster a more legitimate, accountable, and resilient Nepali civil society that is capable of advancing the public interest through engagement with public institutions and public space.
