Bimal Nepal

Bimal Nepal, a respected community leader and the founding President of SEBS, has spent over two decades championing civic engagement within the Nepali diaspora. With a long record of leadership, from Nepal to the U.S.,he sees Mission Aasha as a movement that is empowering rural communities where it matters most. Inspired by the dedication of founder Pukar Malla and his team, Bimal calls on individuals and organizations across all levels to unite and support the mission. To him, giving back to Nepal is a shared duty which he has been fulfilling and requests the fellow diaspora to join hands alongside.

For Bimal Nepal, service isn’t a role, it’s a way of life. After moving to the U.S. nearly 24 years ago, Bimal continued to lead with purpose, serving as President of the Nepalese Association of Florida (NAF), the International Nepalese Literary Society (INLS), Florida Chapter, and the Nepalese Association of Southeast America (NASeA). He was the first President of the Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha Students (SEBS) and has been actively involved in community leadership both in Nepal and across the United States for over two decades.

His dedication to serving Nepali communities, locally and globally, runs deep. That’s why Mission Aasha immediately resonated with him. To Bimal, Mission Aasha isn’t just a campaign,it’s a movement that is reaching the heart of Nepal’s most underserved populations: women and youth in rural areas. He sees it as a powerful vehicle for real change, led by a passionate team under the leadership of Pukar Malla, a fellow SEBS alumnus, who has become a champion for rural transformation.

Bimal strongly believes the time has come for the Nepali diaspora to step up as catalysts in this mission. From individuals to state, regional, national, and international organizations, he urges everyone to come together and formalize their support for Mission Aasha. He suggests that  a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) between the diaspora and Mission Aasha can be a simple yet powerful move to give continuity to working together for a long period of time.

Giving back to Nepal has always been close to Bimal’s heart. He views it as a responsibility that goes beyond borders. He wants to spread the message that one should commit to this mission, and become an integral part of building a more equitable, empowered, and prosperous Nepal, starting from the ground up.
