Anjila Tamang

At 31, Anjila Tamang from Aiselukharka never imagined she would lead a growing business. Once a homemaker and farmer who stitched clothes occasionally for family, she quietly dreamed of earning her own income and building something meaningful.

Her chance came when she discovered the potential of the Dhaka industry. Determined to sharpen her skills, Anjila pursued tailoring training. What began with seeing Dhaka clothing online soon became a serious ambition. She traveled to Dhankuta for hands-on training and later worked in Kathmandu for three years to gain experience. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced her home, she faced a choice—to stop or to start anew.

Anjila chose to start. She became the first person in Aiselukharka to establish a Dhaka enterprise, igniting inspiration and curiosity in her community. Others soon followed her lead.

Today, as chairperson of Udhyamsilata Prashichyan Kendra, Anjila produces a wide range of Dhaka products—from coats, sarees, kurtas, chaubandi cholis, shirts, and shawls to shoes and slippers. She also customizes products to meet customer demands. Beyond making products, she trains others, creating new employment opportunities in her area.

After joining the Growth Entrepreneurship and Employment Promotion (GEEP) program, Anjila learned how to bring skills and strategy together in her business. The training gave her fresh ideas and a clearer plan for growing and leading her enterprise.

Anjila’s journey shows that with determination and skill, one person can spark change not only in their life but throughout a community. Her Dhaka creations are loved locally, and she dreams of sharing her work across Nepal and beyond, reaching customers internationally.

“My Dhaka creations are loved locally and I dream of sharing my work across the globe.”
